STILL SNOW AT THE TOP OF MT PINOS RECREATION AREA

Hey there everyone!!!  Like I promised, I went up yesterday, about 2:30 p.m., and took some pictures.  These pics are taken at the top of Mt Pinos.  The snow level is down to about 3 miles from the top.  Just an FYI, at the top, in the parking lot, there is a Nordic Base Building, and if you go to the left or right of it, you will find really fun trails to play in the snow.

Enjoy your day...

ROAD CONDITIONS AND SNOW PLAY IN FRAZIER PARK, CA

Hey everyone!!!

It is the perfect time to head on up to play in the snow.  The snow level is as low as Gorman, which is the exit just before Frazier Mountain Park Road when you are coming from Los Angeles County.

This is good news because you will not have to drive very far from the freeway to play in the snow.

The road conditions are excellent on the Interstate 5 so you will have a lovely drive all the way up.

If you plan on coming to Frazier Park, or to the higher elevations right now, it is a good idea that you bring chains.  Although, if you have a four wheel drive or an all wheel drive, you should be good.

The temperatures are very low right now, in the low 30's, and that means icy roads.

Yesterday, I was driving on the main road and there was lots of people pulled over to the side playing in the snow.  In front of me, there was a big white Ford Expedition, and he was driving like he was in So Cal, like he was in a hurry to get somewhere, and then he hit black ice.  He went spinning off the side of the road, off into the snow, and into the barbed wire fence.  Needless to say, the poor poor fellow had to get towed out of the snow.  Luckily, he did not run anyone over.

What I am trying to say is, be careful out there.  When it rains, it is wet, and we should slow down.  When there is snow, there is ice on the road, and we should slow down.  The roads look clear and that is why we call it black ice.  The ice looks like the road.

When it snows, and the temperatures are low, like they are now, I only drive my 4X4 because I don't want to be pulled out of the snow, like the guy yesterday, LOL!!!

Have a great time, and enjoy your day...
