Hey there everyone!!!
We still got snow up here on the mountain. I understand that a lot of you are coming up here for the first time, so...
If you would like directions and places to play in the snow check out my post about 'SNOW PLAY IN FRAZIER PARK CA'.
You will have to travel a little ways for snow this weekend because a lot of it has melted.
The good news is that the roads are perfect! No chains are required!
It is best to bring your own sleds, which you can get at any sporting goods or you can check out the links right there on the right side of the blog. Amazon has lots of sleds at great prices.
I also wanted to mention a very nice pizza place on the way up from LA, in Castaic. There is this pizza place, called The Pizza Factory, they have excellent deals at great prices, and the pizza is yummy. The only reason I mention it is, I always get the 2 large pizzas, with 2 toppings, for only $22, and I bring it home for me and the fam bam. You will be glad you did too.
Here is their link THE PIZZA FACTORY. They are located at the very last exit, before you head on up the I5. The exit is Lake Hughes Rd.
The directions are...
From LA, travel the I5 North, exit Lake Hughes Rd, in Castaic, make a right on Lake Hughes Rd, and then make the first right on Castaic Rd. It will be in the shopping area on the right side, second driveway on your right.
That is my recommendation for grub, because it will be a lot of food for your entire family.
Have a great weekend.
Speak soon...

Hello,
Is there still snow up there? Will there will be enough snow for sledding, snow play up in Mt Pinos area this weekend Jan 22,23rd? Does one need an adventure pass if we are just going up for the day & probably won't be too far away from the car? Thanks
How does this weekend look? Great blog!
So...how we looking for snow for this upcoming weekend, Jan. 22? Ski/snow places further south, in the San Bernadino Mtns, closed due to recent heat and deteriorating snow conditions. Is there plenty of snow to x-country ski, snowshoe, or snowplay? Perhaps further up on the mountain this weekend? Thanks so much again!
Hi Anons, and Philip!
Thank you for the comments. There is still snow at the top of Mt Pinos and it has been very warm up here, weird really.
I will drive up tomorrow afternoon and then post the latest. I don't want to say just yet because the sun is melting a lot of our snow.
So, look for my post tomorrow night or early Saturday morning. It just depends how soon I get to a computer after I go up.
Sound good???
You will need an adventure pass anywhere west of the I5 because it is the Las Padres National Forest, even if you will be close to the car. We have a Ranger Station up here and they patrol. They are the one's who issue the tickets, I am pretty sure, if you don't have a pass.

Thanks for the information. I hope to read about the conditions this weekend soon.
JA
You are welcome JA, it will probably be early tomorrow morning.
I will drive up this evening, take a pic, and won't be in front of a computer until tomorrow morning.
Don't worry, I get up early, so hopefully everyone can see it before they decide to head up tomorrow.
